Breeding Quality Boykin Spaniels
Our 'Hunters Rest Souther Dixie' is a cover girl! She was selected to be the cover page for the Boykin Spaniel Socity Fall 2009 Newsletter.
Welcome to Mocha Ridge Kennel. We have recently relocated to Belgrade Montana (10 miles west of Bozeman).
Here at Mocha Ridge, we are focused on breeding Boykin Spaniels who meet breed standards, are eager hunters, and make great family pets.
The Boykin Spaniel breed was developed in the Southeast US. Boykin Spaniels, with their multiple talents and intelligence make wonderful family pets and hunting companions. An American breed, they are a versatile hunting dog.
My longtime passion has always been bird hunting, whether it be pheasants, ducks, geese, or sage grouse. I purchased my first hunting dog when I was 18 and he instantly became my constant companion. Since then, I have had the opportunity to own and train several quality dogs, each leaving me with memories that will last a life time.
In early 2004, while searching for my next hunting dog I discovered the Boykin Spaniels. After attending various sports shows, researching the breed, and waiting for just the right litter, I purchased my first Boykin in 2005 and became instantly attached to Charlie. Those big eyes and floppy ears stole my heart forever.
My goal is to breed quality hunting dogs. Upon researching various kennels and breeders I am very pleased to have connected with Nancy Boykin of Hunters Rest Kennel. Her kennel operations follow the code of ethics for the Boykin Spaniel Society (BSS) and her dogs are tested for hips, eyes and heart. I purchased my initial foundation females from Nancy and have appreciated her knowledge and experience.
I am excited and honored to carry the Boykin Spaniel breed forward and help introduce them to the Pacific Northwest. I am certain you will fall in love with these ‘little brown dogs’ as quickly as I have.
